There is a wrangler stuck down waiparous right now these young guys have no winch its pouring out there. Anybody with a winch can help them ??? iam ready to go back there to help as well!! its getting late ...
i tried to pull them out but my jeep is stock and with that kind of rain ... doesnt work well that all.
Any good soul around ?
-
Are they in the jeep and what is there location ?
Sent from my I junk
-
I couldnt tell you the extact location cause Im not to familer with the area but its about 15 mintues from the main road and there camping near the jeep. Would you like to meet up tonight so we can help them out I can be in cochrane in 30 minutes
-
We have a winch and recovery gear and can lend a hand too... let me know. We can be out there within the hour.
-
Ok thanks can we meet in cochrane at the huskey gas station ? Well be there in forty minute or so
-
Shitty deal. If i didn't blow out my windows out there this weekend and the heep wasn't in the shop i would go help.
Where did they go 15 minutes off the main road that they got stuck?
-
Ok so we are at the husky ! And they are stuck in the begening of that for trail past the maps
I can't tell you the trail number ...
-
ok so the jeep still down there ... iam gonna have to work tomorrow i dont know what they gonna do ...
-
What trail are they on?
Badly stuck? Broken?
-
I can head out there first light just need to know where...
Sent from Mobile
-
yea he is stuck pretty deep ... you can give him a shout see if he still need help tomorrow morning his name is gord here is cell 403 619 9788
he doesnt know anybody with a winch ...
i tried to pull him out but when i saw his jeep i knew he needed a winch
-
I can help later after about 11:00 if still needed.
-
Here's the thing....
There are probably lots of folks here willing to help out....but a bit more information would be VERY helpful when people are deciding to head out there.
#1. WHERE IS THE JEEP?
#2. IS THE JEEP BROKEN, OR JUST STUCK?
#3. HOW BADLY IS THE JEEP STUCK?
-
In reality, the easiest way to get this done is for HIM to post instead of people just constantly posting up "He is stuck".
If he is on trail and it won't fall apart when you get a winch hooked up and can drive away under its own power, then there isn't really an issue.
But if he is off trail, the best bet is to let SRD get him out. If you get busted helping out, they don't care if you are helping out or not.
If it is in need of a tow after, Big Hill is right in Cochrane and does this kind of thing all day long. Yeah, he will pay ($160/hr from when they turnt he key in Cochrane) but that cant be avoided if that is the situation he got himself into.
-
I'd get him out but I don't pick up my trailer until tonight. If you find a flat deck I guarnetee my jeep will get him out.
Is this the tanish Tj that looked hydro locked inbetween the bridge that's falling apart with the large hill on the right side and the
River?
Was it there Sunday?
I drive past a abandon jeep there, was going to pull it to the road but there were no keys. It's in the trail on the south side of the river where the trail gets skinny and there's muskeg on the bottom. Stupid hill climb on the left that
Bikes attempt to go up.
Make sense?
Edit** roughly point 6 on the old wiaparous map. I could tell you on the new map I just don't have one.
-
I'm trying to get a link to the Ghost area map from SRD, they have done fantastic job of messing up their site. If anyone has one, please post it here. It will be much easier to determine where the vehicle is using numbered markers rather than hearsay...
-
Agreed, SRD has royally botched their website.
Here is the only map that I can get a hold of: (The old Waiparous Map)
http://www.whiteknight.ca/waiparous.jpg
-
Second PM sent with my cell number... call me if you want me to come help today. I am done work at 2pm, could be in Waiporous by 3.
-
On
-
Ok far as i know the jeep is drivable it start up fine when i tried to pull him out with straps.
the front tires are deeply in mud and he has the original all terran on ... not helping the back of the jeep is lift up nothing i could of done without a winch.
with the map i see there i think he is stuck on meadow creek trail about 10- 15 mins not that far that all.
-
is he in an area that is fenced off? relatively flat area with tonnes of mud. with signs saying 'do not enter'?
you weren't yanking hard enough. if theres nothing to anchor a jeep to the winch is completely useless.
-
Myself and "Kanuek" are headed out there pretty quick, going to meet in Cochrane in... about 40 minutes or so. If anyone else is looking for an adventure we'll be on CB channel 10.
-
we were thinking attached the jeep with a winch on a tree with straps there is big trees close to hold on there and than use the winch he got a 10 000 pounds straps should be enough to hold ?
-
Thanks guys.... good luck.
-

you will have to anchor the jeep to a tree. otherwise you'll just pull the jeep in.
10k straps are a bad idea. unless its a quad. 20k - 30k at least.
take pics when you get back and post a link. i think a bunch of us are curious to see where this thing is!
-
Damn i dont have a cb yet ...
-
I got a call from Gord... they're still stuck. They sent video (but it's in 3gp format so I can't post here...). They're gonna call me if the two guys that went out can't get him out, or get sucked in themselves. I'm leaving Calgary at 2:00 sharp if anyone wants to join me.
-
We're out here and have limited reception right now. He isn't on trail 95 unless he somehow crossed the river with a stock jeep but I'm not going across it's just too high. We're going to try and call him again. Jeep girl if you are still talking to him have him call my cell I'll pm it to you.
-
So we called Gord and there is no answer. We're on trail 51 right now and sitting here since we have cell service.
-
Tried going west of hwy 40 along meadow creek trail - from marker 95 got about 300m to waiprous creek (torrent of a river) and decided BAD idea to cross. Backtracked to marker 51 and are headed along there.

We are down there right now try to find that trail name or number ...
-
Only way in there without crossing the river is to take the lost knife. The river crossing by four corners would be better then crossing by the gravel pits. Can leave hear in half on hour to help out.

-
Just a heads up that the wide gravel area with the small streams through it by 4 corners is a mess right now too. Very high and fast water that kept the Hummer club from crossing.
-
But Jeeps can go through anything, sink holes, rivers, craters, volcanoes ::)
Keep us informed...
-
Sign 51 is the lost knife trail start. Sign 95 is by thr gravel pit.do not cross here when hugh flows , if you cross and are swept down stream you roll over on the rocks and now under water. Sign 125 is by four corners.

We're still here and can't find them. Jeep girl is on her way out and has talked to them and thinks she knows where they are. Otherwise I've learned a lot about this area in our explorations looking for them.
-
Trail 51 large entrance with a jeep sign in there
There is a red madza at the entrance
10 mins drive away from that entrance we tried to start the engine start very well good start
-
Heading out right now. Will not go in by myself unless i find some one on the road or some one posts location.

That was a pretty good stuck!!! Good on you guys for going out to help. Hope nobody suffered any damage doing the recovery.
None of us that went to help had any damage (albeit a $15 car wash after). Gord, the guy that got stuck, took his Jeep to the stealership today... his fan, fan belt are toast, and he needs his diff fluid changed out. They want to charge him $1300. I told him to go buy the parts and do it himself. If he's gonna play, he should learn how to fix it!
Nice guy though... very appreciative. Took us all out for beer and pizza after! :)
I can't believe another tard went out there today... same spot.
-

I did not see any land-yachts in the pics? I know my 10,000 lb chunk of Dodge would not need an anchor verhicle to pull this guy out! Good on all of you for rescuing this guy. I doubt having a winch would have helped this guy much. Not wheeling alone would have though! Hopefully others learn from this guys mistakes. A Power Wagon would have parted that mudhole like the Red Sea.... ;)
-
If he did have a winch you would have needed scuba gear to get to it.
-

So.....who wants to take pics when the rookie tries to put his money where his mouth is?

Actually I was really referring to the jeep in the picture and calling it a full size. It looses it's effect though when I have to explain. ::)
-
Damn you guys make me feel proud to own a Jeep!
-

Your 10,000 Dodge would have slid into the trees like a pig in crap... it was 6" of mud in very thick grass.
Oh wait... aren't you the guy on the Jeep forum that doesn't own a Jeep??? I think you're on the wrong forum.
-
Wow. Pretty harsh.
Thought this site was open to all. Holyer than thou attitudes like that make me ashamed of being associated with the jeep crowd.
Do you even know what a power wagon is? It's not 10000 pounds and with the right tires is a VERY capable rig.

Busted! I am going to head down and buy a Jeep Compass right away so I can still hang in these parts. I think the heated steering wheel will increase my offroad capability immensely.......

Did a guy with a lightbar on top of a ZJ actually make a sarcastic crack about lack of tech here?
Come on ::)

Yup. ZJ's have coil springs, so that must mean he's more hardcore than anyone on here with leaf springs, right? :D
I believe the thread hijacking is in full progress. ;D

ZJ's dont even remotely factor into that discussion Dunl. In fact, the only thing less hardcore then antique wheeling a leafed carbed flathead would be attempting trails in near stock ZJ's.
At least the antiques get style points....................

Aww man, everyone knows coil springs are the new hotness! I think Bill is just jealous of the huge ZJ aftermarket, whereas all the Wrangler guys have to fab their own crap all the time. ;)
-
Wow...almost 40 posts on this topic just since the day he got out of the mud!
