YJ Blower Motor
« on: December 02, 2009, 08:22:37 AM »
Hey Guys...

The blower in the YJ decided it wanted to quit yesterday and it's frikin cold.

I checked all the fuses, metered and good to go.

Is there a inheirant problem with the switch or is the switch serviceable?

Is it completely off, or is it only blowing on high?

There are resisters that are known to go.  from what i'm told they are easily serviceable.

run a fuse wire right to the motor. if it runs your good till you replace the resitor pack. if the motor dont turn then get a new one or dress realy warm. take the doors off for good measure

The old Blazer  heater motor swap , yes  , a great upgrade to 80's YJ's   .  Later YJ's have got a larger heater motor ,  the early motor has a single orange wire , the later motor is a two wire.    If you have a two wire it is the larger heater motor.

My YJ was a 95, and I still had to grind the opening to fit the newer blower. Not a lot if I remember, but some.  Gearhead is more than likely correct.  8)

My  88  YJ   has the heater motor from a 93  YJ , the opening had to be enlarged to get it to fit .
