Speedo Recalibration?

Going up to 33"x12.50"x15" tires. Do I have to
go to my local 'Stealership' for a speedo recalibration?
 Stock 2003 TJ Sahara, 4.o litre, 5 speed.   :-\

you have to buy a new speedo gear, every place in calgary I have found is a complete rip off for a cheap arse plastic speedo gear (we are talking in the 90-100 dollar range for a little plastic cog... that costs like 30 bucks in the states)
Speedo gear is located on the T-case, on top of the rear output shaft and is held in place with one screw.

Edit... I'm not sure as to the accuracy of the "raingler" chart...there is one floating around the Advance Adapters uses that is slightly off, I'm not sure if this is the one

I actually just priced one out at a dealership, I was thinking it wouldn't be too bad, it's a small part, plastic...

270$ is what I was told for a 37 tooth.

Totally confused I thought speedos on all 92+ were electronic and could be addjusted via elec devices doohickeys????????

You are right 92 to think 97 have both a gear that you can change , but it drives the electronic part at the transfer case. 97 and up ? the electronic part is in the transfer case.

Any way of ordering these speedo gears outta the states instead then? There's no way I'm paying $270 for that part (also need 37 teeth).

Try JustJeeps.com out of Ontario  - I have been successful with some better priced items from them lately...

or you could always just use your GPS as a speedo, but that would result in lower km's on the odometer. it won't be off by that much. Maybe 5 to 10%.

I'm currently adding about 20-25% more than normal (4.56 gears with stock tires), until I can do the lift and fit the bigger tires. But man does it ever shift off the line pretty quick right now :)

This is what I do. Have a 91 but swapped in a 94 tcase so no more speedo :'(
