TJ Door Removal
« on: March 23, 2010, 04:14:38 PM »
Hi all,

This is the beginning of my first summer in Alberta as well as my first summer with a Jeep.

Bought a silver 2000 TJ last September, picked up a soft top cheap off Kijiji over the winter - and since today is an absolutely gorgeous day I had the bright idea to take the doors off and go for a spin...

However, I'm having trouble getting the doors off - I'm also having trouble finding a wrench that fits the nut on there.  Have tried 8mm, 10mm, 1/4 inch etc.

Does anyone have any pointers/ideas?  Any suggestions would be quite welcome!

Cheers,

Cam

Well, I had to cut off one bolt because it was stripped.
I used a metric wrench. Vise grips work too.

Use a jack-all to get them out of the hinges and the some white lithium grease on the hinges for next time

start soaking them in some sort of penetrating oil..... I sprayed mine twice a day for about two weeks before they both finally came loose.

just watch the threads they are a bit soft and will will mash easily

mine were tough the first time, i just lifted from the bottom and kept swinging the doors open and closed and they came up shortly before i died.
