This may be a stupid question, but I'm in the process of changing the engine in my 98 TJ 2.5L and I'm just about ready to pull the engine out, but I can't find out how to disconnect the fuel line.   :?:

It's seems to be a all metal line, from the gas tank that is crimped onto the fuel rail on the engine.

The jeep repair manual talk about 2 kinds of fitting, "Quick Connect" & Plastic Retainer",  From the sounds of it, it looks to be the "Plastic Retainer" type.  But the damn thing wont budge for me.

I would like to be able to reuse this fuel line if possible, with the engine I'm putting in; in it's place (97 TJ 2.5L).

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tip calltrex, haven't had time to go to the parts store to look for this tool, but will try to go tomorrow if I have time.

Would Anyone know the name of this tool by chance?

Between be being lazy & busy with work, this engine swap seems to be taking for ever.  Being it my 1st time attempting a project like this I thought it would be a lot easier.  And I have a feeling I will run into some more problems when I get the new engine in.  Since I have noticed some suttle differences in the two.

I might in the near future be in need of some help from someone who knows what they are doing.  While I was reading through some of the old post a while ago, I saw a post by a guy who lived out in Cochrane and did work out of his garage, now when I need to read this post and contact him  I can't find the darn thing.

Would anyone know who I'm talking about off hand and be able to point me in the right direction, so I can get in contact with this guy.  I believe he has a Jeep Cherokee & he lives and runs a shop out of his garage in Cochrane Alberta in his free time.

Or would you guys/girls be able to suggest some decent mechanics who would be willing to do house calls & travel out to Cochrane (Since that's where I live and the jeep isn't drivable).

98 should be a quick connect, maybe some had the plastic clips. Either way, quick connect you press like an air fitting, plastic clips you can dig out with a pick.

I have the plastic clip tool and find it stinks, and usually have better luck with a pick and a small flathead.
