All Gages on Dash Died
« on: May 26, 2009, 09:33:20 PM »
I have a 1992 Jeep Yj and one day all the gages on the dash died. The fuel gage oil pressure gage and every other one. all the lights still work. Checked all the fuses and other connections does any one have any idea what else to check? its a complete mystery.

Is there a ground conection to the dash frame. I had an s10 years ago the had guages that died on  and off turned out to be a loose ground dash frame to the firewall.

On the fire wall , under the hood , in the vicinity of the map sensor , there's a gray connector . I can remember how many pins or which pin is what  there are at least eight wires , maybe more , wiggle that connector or look for corrosion . This is likely a bad connection. This connector has many of the wires for the guages , oil pressure , voltmeter , tempurature.

I have the same problem. I have a cluster of wires running under my dash, where my CD player ties in (Which I can't get working!!) I tucked the cluster back up into the dash one day and all my gauges began working again...

1st thing I did was check all my fuses and they were all good, mine turned out to be a bad wire somewhere under the dash coming from my accessory wire. I ended up splicing into it and tying it into my CD player (Which now works!) and my gauges now all work fine as well! Apart from my oil pressure gauge, which always reads 6...

Just finished putting in aftearket guages in my YJ. Have old cluster if you want to plug it in and see if it fixes everything. There are two power feeds and two grounds for the cluster so it's weird to have all of them quit. PM me if you need a hand.
