That will work if its a steel rim, otherwise it could get very messy.

i would just drill out the studs, you are going to have to buy a new hub anyway, start with a small bit and work your way up untill the nuts come off.
it will take a while. ( a torch works good too,)
if the holes on the rim are ovalled out, Alberta rim, on goddard avenue will be able to fix them up.  about $100 I would think,
