Door lights still on with fuse pulled

So unfortunately I was leaving Jay's shop this afternoon (Jenssen's review of the HID kits hooked me) and had another electrical gremlin show up...happened once before and I attributed it to the -30 weather at the time, but today's +20 or so proves otherwise.

Started the Jeep, leaned over to open the passenger side window, and she turns off.  Security key light is flashing on the dashboard

My best guess is that the remote starter that was installed may have bypassed (or at least changed) the immobilization circuit...it was discussed that they may have moved the sensor ring somewhere else, and stuck the chip that's normally inside the key in it.  I haven't ripped my dash apart to check, but I have a feeling they've played havoc with the wiring.

Solution:  waiting / trying the ignition again a couple times until the light stops flashing.  Thankfully you don't have to actually start the Jeep, just turn the ignition to on, so it won't disable the engine on you.  (If it has to kill the engine more than 5 times or so, it goes into some safety mode until you take it to a dealer, I believe).

Definitely gotta fix that before I hit the trails this year though, wouldn't want to get stranded out in the middle of McLean.

I do have a set of those little spring clips made to hold the button in while the doors are off if you want them.....  My fuse pull works, so i don't need them... let me know...

If you want to take a drive to the SW, feel free to swing by (PM for address if interested) and we can compare the two 2003s side by side and see if there is something up with your fuse panel. But as far as I can tell our panels should be identical. As a curtesy I will snap a picture tonight and post it for you.

Thanks Scott and Knox!  Thinking I'll solve the other electrical gremlin, and hopefully while I'm at it I'll figure out what's going on with the interior lights.  If that fails, I'll take you guys up on your offers.

Good luck, I have never heard good things after some kid monkey installs a remote starter....   pmme when you have it all fixed up and let us all know what was up!!!!!!

When I installed mine, I had to also put in a bypass card. Its a tiny chip with a loop of wire that goes around the key cylinder. If you drop the cover off the steering column from the bottom and then off the top, you may be able to see a loop of wire going around your cylinder. No alarms that I have seen will actually tie in with the jeeps electronics, its all set up to just go around the cylinder. Mine never really worked quite right until I taped the actual chip and tiny PCB that it was mounted to directly below the cylinder. What I would suggest is just remove the plastic cover and check if everything there is still up tight and close to the cylinder. If its shifted a bit, it could cause the jeep to shut off on a remote start. (Runs for about 3 seconds then off) If it is your key in the ignition and the jeep is shutting off, it could just be that the chip in your key is worn out (unlikely) or that your computer may need to be reset Id think. Just disco the batt, (negative first) then positive, and then touch the two leads together to drain any caps in the system. This should clear your computers memory. Yes you will have to reset your radio settings and whatnot but may also fix your issue. Good luck!
