Build-down(?)
« on: June 16, 2011, 10:37:43 AM »
Hey guys. I used the search but have come up empty.
I have a 1998 XJ 2 door with a 3 inch lift, and 30x9.5.
Rims are 15x8 with a 3.75" back spacing. I am removing the lift,
And have a question in regards to what I have to do first.
When I remove the lift, and put it back to stock height,
Will the 30x9.5 tires with those rims fit?
Or do I need to get new tires first, and then remove the lift?

tires should fit, but the wheel offset is probably too much. A set of factory wheels should tuck the tires in where they belong.

I believe with that offset and tire size, the tires will rub in the rear especially if the stock leafs you are installing at sagged at all

They Will definatly rub! especially in the front! when you turn! on the fenders! haha, and in the rear, as soon has you hit a bump or have weight in the back, the tires will rub on plastic inside the wheel wells! I had a 2" lift and with 31" and black steelies with a pretty big offset and rubs in the back and front, now I got 3" in the back and cut the fenders up front!

Ok that's what I thought. Will those rims cause a set of 235/75/15 to rub on stock suspension? I mean that's only like 2-3 inches total of tire change and I'm coming down 3 inches.

Those tires will rub with fenders with offset wheels and a little flex
