1994 yj transfercase

im looking for a transfer case for a 1994 yj standard  4litre   anyone have one  ?its says 231 j   on the tag.l  will a cherokee t/c fit?                                                           thanks i got one

Yes an XJ t-case will work
'95 YJ with a few mods

correct me if im wrong here Scott, but the xj 231 is clocked lower then the wrangler unit. not sure how much but i think thats what ive read somewhere before. it will bolt up though. no vacuum actuator though.

The vacuum actuator is easy to switch over and the clocking is lower but it is from the transmission and not the t-case.  So if you use an XJ t-case with a YJ tranny, it will be fine

aahhhh, i see. the clocking on the transmission makes more sense. i wasnt certain about the vacuum actuator. instead of swapping it over it might be a good time to get rid of the vacuum system. posi-lock or one piece shaft.

I have put two xj transfer cases in my '91(first blew up) only difference i ran into was the front output.
Since the xj has a double cardon i had to get a U bolt set for it but it works great.
