MOAB ~ Anyone going this spring/summer/fall?
« on: February 14, 2012, 03:54:07 PM »
Was wondering if anyone is going to Moab this spring or summer?
I know it is not quite spring/summer yet, but it will come soon.  8)
I don't have lockers, but I'm sure there are bypass's around the
really tuff stuff. If anyone would need to winch out of something
you could use my Jeep as an anchor!   ;D

You do not want to go to Moab during July or August, way to hot.
If I have a good financial Spring/Summer, I will likely be heading down around Labour Day weekend, (thats the local 4x4 clubs annual camping weekend so there's lots to see).
If not this year, next for sure.

Ya, know about the heat. 8) Should have said: maybe early June or
mid September? Just wondering if there is any interest? :D

A word to those of you who have never been to Moab, it is just a little piece of paradise in a big old world. Even without the Jeep, it's probably my favourite holiday destination.
It should be on every wheelers bucket list.

So I've heard, not to mention the moutain biking.

Always thought it'd be wicket to head down for awhile to ride bikes for a few days and rigs for a few days....that's the life 8)

I took my mountain bike there during Easter Jeep Safari once. The heat was unbearable during the day and it was still brutal in the shade. It was still worth it. I vowed to come back one day and wheel it. Still on my bucket list.

Headed down for Easter - will be our third time - love it :)

If you (or anyone) is planning a trip in the same time frame we'd be happy to connect up and wheel with you.

We are booked in Canyonlands campground so that we are in walking distance of the nightlife.

Moab is long freakin' drive...but even if you can only go for a week, the wheeling is worth every dreary, painful second of that drive. I did a one-week trip there in 2010...and it left me wanting to go back for a 2-week trip!

It doesn't matter whether your rig is a tube buggy on 40's or a stock sleezy Z....there's something there that will challenge you the right amount.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

just out of curiosity but why continue to go during EJS?
going after or before ensures way more trails done as there are no line ups. Eating is way easier too for the same reasons, no lineups.
i could see doing EJS once to experience it but ....

i have been down 5 times. First time was 2 or 3 weeks after EJS during the Toyota safari. The next 4 times were during our Thanksgiving. i am pretty sure i will be going again this year during Thanksgiving. 8)

Actually the way our Easter break works we arrive on the last day of EJS for the vendor show and one day of Jeep madness. We then stay the following week and wheel on much less congested trails.

EJS - March 31 - April 8

Easter School Break - April 6 to April 15 (we just head down a couple of days early)
