switching a yj frame from 2.5-4.0
« on: May 09, 2013, 05:44:36 PM »
hey so I have a 1991 jeep yj and a 1993 frame and tub, the frame on the 91 is getting pretty bad so I was going to do a full overhaul on the jeep. The only issue is the 93 frame was built for a 4 cylinder and my jeep is a 6 cylinder. I am just wondering if it would be worth converting the frame or just doing rehab on the old frame. Any help would be appreciated.

you might want to elaborate on what you mean by getting pretty bad. Is it just surface rust, or is your old frame bent? Its probably not too much work to cut off the old motor mounts and weld on new ones to the other frame, but what exactly are you working with?
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...
