Hydraulic clutch conversion on a 1981 jeep cj7 with 4.2 L and a T5 trans

I am wanting to convert my clutch to a hydraulic system and I wonder if anyone else on here has done it and what all I would need to do the change over on my 1981 cj7. I do have a master clutch cylinder and pedals from a 1987 yj if that helps me. Please let me know if you could tell me if there is a way that I can do it.

That will take some research. Easiest thing to do would be to call Advance, and or Novak and ask if they have done it.

Advance does a nice slave kit used for most universal installs.

From there you would need to source, or build the bracket to mount the slave.


Found it. I've used this one a few times. Once on my 4500 swap, and once on a ford T18 into a CJ behind a Golan Stroker.

Oh, and here is a good thread on it from Jeep Forum. Guys are using the iron duke 4 cylinder stuff and seem to be having success with it. Essentially the same thing I linked, but should be cheaper through local part stores knowing the application to ask for.

The steel line you can build at Mopac for cheap.

Amc eagles used a 4.2l and T5 with a hydraulic clutch. Napa still lists a slave  cylinder for around $30.
