Grande Cherokee SRT8
« on: October 17, 2008, 07:45:39 AM »
I did an alignment on a WJ w/ an SRT8 in it 2 days ago, and Im still thinking about it.

Got take it for a drive around the block, needless to say I took it the long way around. What an amazing setup. No computer nanny telling me what I cant do. Incredible throttle response, and huge dual pipes make for one fun ride!

425HP & 475 ft/lb @ 45G's or something.

The Vipers SRT10 hits 502 HP, & 535 ft/lb @ 4 G's (something like that). 90% of the total power of the SRT10 is reached at a mere 1000 rpm. I wonder if the WJ's SRT8 has the same low rpm stats?

Anyways, that was fun. Why the hell cant they give the wrangler a mercadies diesel, or a 5.7L v8, OR THE FRIKKIN SRT8??!!!

Soon I'm going to be a cherokee owner... but not that soon with a price of $42'000 CAD.

You mean the WK SRT 8.  Yeah I was thinking about one of those but with the 6.1L Hemi, I didn't want to tow a fuel trailer behind me.  A friend told me one he watch his borther light up all four tires with his
'95 YJ with a few mods

they are pretty cool to drive. they seem to have some torque steer to them from the AWD. and id put 18" rims on and have a little more sidewall to smooth out the ride. but yeah, they kick some seriouc arse!!

We lit up the rear tires on it in the shop, and on the ramps for the hoist  ;D!

Couple of things that are sucky, the front end suspension is really weak. It's IFS and the front diff is about the size of a cantellope... With all the power vs. weight ratio, I am expecting to see a lot of these in body shops & scrap yards before the winter is over. I woke up to it snowing this morning already.

But, could do a front axle conversion. Looks like the rear was packin a D44? Couldnt find what axle was under it on the net. But it wasnt a 35 housing that I've seen.

Mag I'm reading says that word on the street is the WJ is going to lose all the goodies offered under the bonnet in 2010. Where it will only be offered with a V6. No more SRT8, no more 5.7L Hemi, no more Mercedes Diesel (I heard dodge has already sold Mercedes awhile ago).

But yea, if I was rich... thered be an SRT8/10 living in my Jeep.

There is an internet legend about a guy that got fired for admitting that he lit tires up on a Ford SRT cobra....while working for the dealership.
just saying ;)

And if it was my Cherokee, i may be a tad upset.
