4.0L Throttlebody fit on a 2.5L?

I know 2.5l performance is a joke but im trying to get a few more precious hp to hold a constant speed on the highway.

I read several places that a 4.0l throttlebody will provide a bit of power, has anybody done/heard of this?

What year is comatible with the 97 tj 2.5?

Please let me know with as little jokes as possible

They provide a little more power but nothing crazy.  Any TB from a 4.0L should work but I am not sure if they changed in the later years.  When I swapped mine I used 4.0L sensors when my dad did his, he re-used his 2.5L sensors and no difference.  The TB used to be $50 at Jeepstuff w/o sensors and $100 w/sensors

If you want more performance, open up the exhaust, it made a huge difference on my 4 angry squirrels

i put in a 62 ml tb and spacer.
great throttle response now, and definitly allowed for better breathing. noticible in the nigher revs.

i think my next upgrade will be mustang injectors and or a electric fan.

but make sure you get the correst year because the sensors are in different spots.

2.5 performance ? , hardly a joke , there's some potential in these engines and they are tough.


What works is

Gears  , 4.88's  or 5.13's  depending on tire size chosen.

4.0 throttle body

Cold air intake

Free flowing exhaust and or header

Electric fan

Cam

Head work

My 95 has all of this , except the cam and head work , this may happen later , I've got a spare head     , this engine needs to be , um ..... freshened.
