Oh the cold vs the jeep
« on: December 15, 2008, 04:00:01 PM »
i have figured out that the jeep and -40 just dont like each other
the wipers got together and decided there was no way in hell they were gonna work.  >:(
the suspension decided it would treat me to a roller coaster with 2 wheels    :o
and the front breaks decided to lock up solid on centre street between 64th and mcKnight  :P
Oh how i love the thing or i would have burned it on the side of the road!!!!!!!!!!!

Try this one for frustration. Go out and the driver's door of my XJ would not unlock. Ok it is frozen.  :'(  Climb in through the pass side. ;D  Drove from red deer to Leduc still not unfroze. Leave running the time there, about 1 hour still will not unlock back in through the passenger side ;D , drive back to Red Deer still not freed up. Play with the lock and handle and get the door to open, get out and out of frustration slammed the door the latch came up to the latched point before it wrapped around the pin and now it will not open again in order to close the door.  :'( I tried to take it apart to fix it but -30 pulse wind chill = plastic parts braking.  ::)  Decided that's enough and came in side had two Rye and Cokes and stared looking for an auto shop in Red Deer, that I have only lived in for one week.  :o Thank You Red Dog it's at Ray's inside and he going to look at first thing in the morning. Fun drive their with a ratchet strap around the door and the steering column.  8)

Why does your Jeep say Toyota on it?

Doh!! that sucks.
Shelley took mine (the red one) to work today, cause the Grand is still sidelined due to oil pressure issues that I have not had time to investigate, yet. The thermostat crapped out on the way to work. 2 of her co-workers changed it in the parking lot for her (bless their souls). She got home, pulled into the garage in a cloud of burn walnut smelling steam. Drained the rad, as the boys had added only antifreeze. Mixed the solution as best as I could going by looks of the antifreeze. Gonna pick up a antifreeze tester tomorrow, and see how close I was.
if we were smart with our money we wouldn't own Jeeps.
Here's your cup of STFU... ENJOY!

my jeep hasn't had any trouble with the cold .. but then it's been just sitting in the garage at no less the 5 degrees  ;D

have to take it out soon to fill it up and hope my check engine light's just on because of the gas cap or something stupid like that

I'm doing ok with the TJ but I mostly walked on the weekend. What DOES tick me off is that I finally replaced my windshield late summer and took a nick headed down to McLean Creek 3 weeks ago in the dark. I heard it hit around Didsbury on the QE2 and sure as hell poking around at Bragg Creek after sunrise - there it was. Now in this weather with the defroster going... off she goes again to the races. Looks like another windshield in the spring.

No problem on Ray's Waytec. Mine goes into Northwest Motors this morning for the "Peace of Mind" service special - oil, tire rotation, etc.
I'd rather be dragging a club than clubbing in drag

Mine has been good, considering it's a high mileage beast...
The only thing that has happened to me thus far (knock on wood, does plastic wood paneling in the jeep count?) was yesterday I went out to start her during the lunch our & my muffler was sounding really odd? It was a gargling sound & shook the heck out of the tail pipe. Let it warm up longer & it went away..???
I figure the muffler baffles had moister between the plates & froze, causing this?
Other wise, she's been saying... let's go, let's go play...  ;)

Odd ? my twenty one year old YJ is no worse for wear , even chained on all four corners , front wheels in the air , 35's chuckin rocks the size of cement blocks , pushing bumper deep snow , with Jimi hendrix wailing , up a gnarly cutline in -28 weather , toasty warm heater too.
