Central Axle Disconnect, the vacuum control system used to disconnect the pass side axle shaft on the YJs.

working just fine,.. would go in and out

now it won't go in (4x),.. lots of vacuum too - will hammer later

`48 CJ2A, `54 CJ3B, `97 TJ, and 03 WJ...batting close to .500 when it comes to jeep models owned vs. jeep models created.....

My dogs are finding it cold even in the house today....

well it was -28 this morning and me jeep started no problem :)

and i was in the kitchen when i started it  ;D ;D
03 TJ, 33" BFG's,4:88 gears  BBoost, CB, custom front bumper,  insta/extenda trunks, rugged ridge roof rack w/basket

well i think its been a recurring issue but lately teh YJ will not come out of 4wd. that is until i put it in 2wd and realized the light was still on, and jeep wasn't in 4wd. so, i think mine is suffering from a problem with the CAD too.   sound correct?

same issue as me,.. could be just age

I bookmarked the link that was posted earlier and am planning to do that mod when it warms up. I do notice when mine finally kicks out, or kicks in,.. it's smooth shifting between, until it acts up again.

i think i may be doing that mod as well. is really nice out today, took the jeep or a spin, and is still engaged in. i might be doing this mod as well!

The CAD  issue ?


My old Comanche does this some times , usually when it's real cold. It never fails to engage , just going back to 2wd is when it hangs up , actually the transfer case returns to 2wd , then the indicator lamp is slow to turn off or occassionally not turn off at all , the switch is vacuum operated , I just ignore it as it always engages when needed.
