Commuting the NON-Deerfoot way?

Even so, they need to make a "Jeeps Only" lane like a carpool lane... who cares if they load it up with snow, rocks and things... we'd still probably go faster than the rest of the commuters.

A few years ago , 84th street was a decent alternative , no longer true as this has been discovered by a wide variety of idiots and is now clogged with vehicles at rushhour. At other times of the day it's far better than running the deerfoot 500 which is quite dangerous almost anytime of the day or night.

I take 84th ST quite often, as I live out in Langdon. I find it moves pretty good. Sometimes crowded, but pretty consistent movement.

84th is open.  i go a little further to garden road or range road 284 all the way up to country hills and reverse in the morning.  usually pretty good till i hit glenmore 84th then slow for a bit.

84th at 16th and 17th has lights. And recently upgraded turning lanes, etc.

I work (currently) on 84th, just north of Glenmore. I commute at off peak hours, and I take the 'Foot to 16th, then 84th south to the yard.
84th doesnt quite make it to McKnight or Country Hills anymore, there is a bypass to Garden Road, and that heads north to connect.

As for 84th, single lane, lots of trucks, but they turn off at 16th typically. A couple of railroad crossings, of which I was held up once at 05:30 heading home (hence the off-peak hours). All in all, not too bad. Though I don't know what its like in the middle of the rush hour.

I lived in apple wood last year and i worked in douglasdale.  It was about a 15km drive to work and it took almost 45min to get home.....

it was smooth flowing until halfway between glenmore and 17th ave and after the traffic slowed down it sometimes took 30min just to get to the light....

I drive the deerfoot to airdrie the same time it took to get less than half the distance
