Dash speaker replacement?

Has anybody replaced their dash speakers? I have a 95'YJ and I want to change out the dash speakers for some better qualitity ones. I looked and really don't see any easy way to get at these speakers. Does know what is the easiest way to get at these speakers without pulling off the whole dash?

I did mine and hope I never have to do it again. I had the whole dash apart anyway, and actually cut the panel at the steering wheel so it would be easier next time. I used poly-cone speakers so they should last as long as I own the Jeep.

You can do the passenger side easily enough by reaching up under the dash. They are held in with 4 little pressed steel square nuts that are easy enough to get off. The driver's side is another matter. Instuctions I've read say to loosen the panel and pry it back, but I didn't do that, as I explained.

I changed mine.....  Took 4 hours.  No fun

I changed mine (93 YJ), well had a good friend do them for me (smaller hands).  Its a pain in the arse to do, and its only a 4X6 speaker, so the sound quality out of them isnt that great to start with.  My advice, leave them there, clip the wires and run a set of 6X9's in boxes in the back.

Unless you are into self torture and aggravation, if so then go at it, lol

I tired doing mine, and didnt get it done.

Take the dash panel off , it's not difficult .   I have done a couple of them  this way ,  it's easier than going by feel , contorting your arm , possibly ripping the cones in the new speakers.
