Can Rock Release
« on: January 05, 2009, 10:39:43 PM »
First and foremost; The Can Rock Series is an association of Canadian events. We would like to incorporate a good mix of speed and technical crawling for the competitors. If the competitors are happy the fans will be happy and that will make the sponsors happy.

The specifications for the vehicles will be based upon the popular WE Rock specs as they seem to be the norm for most of the competitions for North America, but they will allow some room for the people that are not building WE Rock Specific vehicles. Our main focus is to have the safety of the competitors first, so all safety aspects of the low speed races will be in effect.
The competitions will be consisted of 3 main classes for the time being and until we get more competitive vehicles in Canada.
Stock:
Basically for the “Modified Stock” class

Trail Class:
The Basic Pro Modified Class Specifications up to and including a 40” tire

Buggy Class:
This class will use the Basic Unlimited Specs and will allow all the “buggies” to compete together.

The rules for the events will be a modified WE Rock and Mainland Cup Challenge amalgamation as it allows Canadian specific terrain rules and will be available shortly.

The Dates for the events will be Rumble in the Rocks (tentative date and area in BC to be determined) July 25, 26, 2009.

Apex Mountain BC; August 15, 16, 2009

One more event after August to be announced very soon.

All information is subject to change with input from competitors, spectators and sponsors.

There will be 4 Marshals available for competitors for tech and specification questions. Any questions will be answered as soon as possible, and as always, all suggestions are needed and appreciated to make this series work for the people involved. As always volunteers are appreciated for the events.

Thanks,
Serge

Doesnt matter anyways. You will have to tie your body mounts into some double sheer bracketry before you can qualify.

We are going at least 1 BC one, and you are coming whether you like it or not.

Yip, rules based on We Rock, but going to switch it up a little to be geared more towards the Canadian competitor & courses.

For modified stock, if you already meet the above linked rules, you're set, but I have a feeling the rules will be much more lenient, and the course a little more forgiving.

Official rules will be finalized shortly, stay tuned!

Stock TJ roll cage mounted to the body (but frame is recommended) will pass, unless it's already beaten up and/or rusted.

The date for the Rumble in the Rocks event is June 6th, 2009. Single Day event, consisting of 2 races.
It will be the first competition in the series.
It will be in the Chute Lake area, It will be near the road way so as to allow people access to the race area.

Apex Mountain BC; August 15, 16, 2009

Mainland Cup Challenge; September 26, 27, 2009 (Location to be announced)

And some further info on the Stock, trail and buggy classifications

--------------------------------------------------------------
A few of us have been working to develope a way to classify vehicles for the Can-Rock series. As I'm sure most of you know, we can't just use the WERock ruling and classifications due to legalities.

Also, when trying to classify rigs that are already built, we can't just put out a "requirement sheet" (like WERock where people are building rigs to suit these requirements) so we have come up with a point style system.

In Canada, 95% of rigs can be classified without using this system, but we still want to have it in place as a reference point throughout the Can-Rock competitions. That being said, it's also not being published so people can "try and get into a lower class" by changing a few arguemental things. The classes are pretty straight forward and we have used many of the rigs we know, have built, and wheel with to develope and test the system.

And as with any "new" system there will be hiccups along the way and we will take any advice or opinions you guys have.

There will be exceptions to the rules and as always the final decisions will be up to the Can-Rock Officials.

How it works;
Go through each column and select the highest point value (pick only 1 number per column) that applies to your rig and enter it into the blank field at the bottom of each column. The program will automatically add up all your scores and give you your classification.....It's that easy!

Here's an example copy with my buggy and Paulie's Trooper

Limitations;

Stock Class

-Must have stock (full) frame
-No full hydro
-Must be close to stock wheelbase (3" rule)
-Max tire size 35"
-Stock diffs (IFS and Solid axles allowed)
-Full body (Final body ruling will be up to the Can-Rock officials)
