Cleaning the Engine Bay

The engine bay of my XJ has gotten pretty splashed and soaked in mud, and I want to get it cleaned out.

If I pressure wash it at a car wash, do I have to cover all electrical connections and electrical components with plastic?

Would it be better to do a low pressure wash and scrub at home, using a garden hose and a soft bristle brush?

Thanks
Geoff

Just dont shove the nozzle right up to connections, and watch the airbox intake. And watch the distributer as well, you might want to run it as you wash incase the distributer is sensitive to water. It will spit an sputter and tell you if there's water getting at it.

Careful of sensors too, they don't like high pressure water.
