Measure your lift
« on: April 27, 2009, 10:33:00 PM »
If you don't know the lift above stock on your jeep, how can you measure it?
say if I measure from the center of the rim to the fender  would that tell me?

or from ground to fender... utilizing same tires, of course.
if we were smart with our money we wouldn't own Jeeps.

really - thats interesting.

from the top of my tire (235 75 15's) to the fender was 2 inch's after the Grand Cherokee coils were added it went up to 4 inch's
so in theory a 2 in lift  -   is 4 inch's enough clearance for trial rides?

If you're running stock rims, the tires should tuck up into the fender if they travel far enough. 4" should be good to get you on the trails and wanting more lift, bigger tires and lots more toys that you see out there.

From top of tire to bottom of fender... 4"
From ground to bottom of fender... 31.25"
225/70/15 tire

So you basically got 1" over the stock height or 2 " over the sagged out height you were at.

1" over stock is fine for upto a 30" tire, past that either trim fenders or more lift.
