wheel spacers....the good, the bad, and the ugly....

Tell me all about them.  Safety? Wear and tear? Pain in the butt?

I'll read everything you wanna tell me about them.  :)

I have a set of Spidertrax on my ZJ right now.  Wheel and hub centric, as long as you torque them right and use locktight you should have no problem.  I really like the wider stance it gave my Jeep.

I have 1.25 wheel spacers , offset steely rims and 37" 13.5 fat bias ply tires...

I run this on a highly modified HPD30... the only thing i wear out is unit bearings and balljoints... I don't drive it every day so it's not that bad...

It makes it a little wider/ more stable... I have more clearance for the tires when I turn or stuff em in the wheel well... I like it.... I have no issue with them on my rear axle.

they are 100$ each for parts and can be done in an hour or two by someone who's done them and has the correct tools

I picked up a CJA member (can't remember his name) a few years ago on the side of 32nd ave with a white 3 wheeled TJ Sahara.

His front Spidertrax spacer fell off. He did say the manufacturer warrantied it but I don't think I'd run any spacers unless I'm truly in love with the wheels.

I'll be running 1.25" Spidertrax spacers on the rear of my TJ w/ 37's as well.

And I've been running 2" Aluminum spacers on the rear of my Duramax for about 3 years without issue.

Locktite, proper torque, and should be worry free.

for the price of spacers you could pick up some decent procomp wheels that have the right backset. thats what i did for my jk, same price, custom look. thats just my $0.02

Wheel spacers shouldn't be as much as ProComps. How much did you pay for the PCs?

The rockcrawlers are ~$60 USD each, so $360 CDN for 5 as opposed to $240 for 4 Spidertrax spacers shipped.

So $195 for toplines isn't bad. They're not blue, but who can see through the wheel
