Netfirms/ Too Many Connections?
« on: May 24, 2009, 10:28:57 AM »
Hi all, I know there's some computer guys on here, so I figured I'd ask here as I remember getting some suggestions when I was looking to set up the Red Deer Jeep site.  The problem right now is that we keep getting the message "Too Many Connections".....FREQUENTLY.  According to Netfirms, it's a setting in the phpbb3 software (which I can't find), and according to general internet seach, Netfirms sucks big time when it comes to this issue.

We're trying to grow our site, and we're getting this error sometimes when there is only one person online.

I'm open to any suggestions, including moving to a new host if need be. :(

You have a screen shot of the error msg you can send me ([email protected])?  It's very likely a DB connection error but it could be an error within the apache webserver its self.   The files that would contain the settings you're looking for are httpd.conf (apache config) or php.ini (php config which sets the number of db connections).  Unfortunately they can be named something slightly differently depending on how the server was setup (makes it a little hard to track them down sometimes).

Get me a screen shot (or just send me the exact error msg) and I'll see if I can help you out.

the easiest fix I know. it go to a good hosting company.

I use Godaddy.com for everything they are cheap and they have tons of optionaly preinstalled software for your site. and tons of bandwidth and disk storage to grow anysite to huge proportions.
