HD steering ?

dumb question but I'm assuming the o.r.o deletes the steering stabilizer based on the pics?  Does that affect handling at all?

 look again  the stablizer is still there its just mounted on the back side of the track bar


the pics on there web site doesnt show it but if you search on google ull see that its still there thats also why they offer a stablizer braket

It doesn't delete the steering stabilizer you simply have to use a clamp on mount for it....or....a weld on mount for hydro assist. in the pics it  shows a stabilizer mounted a little different thats all!!!

I ran mine without a stabilizer and a good wheel alignment with no detriment to handling for quite a while.....however when I stepped up to 36/15.50's the tire followed everything on the road and I used a Rancho universal kit and that toned down the wide tire woes.....

When we did the recent build the 38's realy warrented hydro assist and then we welded a dual sheer mount to the solid tie rod and mounted an 8 inch ram.

Hate to be the bad guy in this one, but..................

The oro uturn is a very poorly designed and overpriced steering system.

It will reduce your turning radius, eliminate proper ackerman causing poor return to center and tire scrub.

The draglink is a poor design, which is why its on its 4th rendition.

The tie rod ends they use are rare, small, and weak.

The reason Bears draglink is holding up is because he runs hydro assist, essentially removing most the load from the draglink.

Unless you are picking up a used version for a couple 100 bucks, I wouldnt recommend the uturn.
 
Dom went through close to a dozen draglink tie rod ends before he gave up on that system and had me build him a true histeer crossover system using 3/4 ton chev TRE's.

By far the currie system is the best off the shelf hd steering system for a TJ.

The ZJ "upgrade" is a hoax, and shouldnt be considered unless its free or a 40$ wrecker find. Otherwise you might as well weld a peice of angle iron to the stocker to re enforce is slightly.

I ran the U-turn system for abouty 2 year. ORO gave me a new drag link for free because I was going though joints like it was bacon.

The ORO system is not made for a Jeep that had more then 6" suspention ... that is for sure. After changing about 6 or 8 MOOG ends I gave up....

I recomment the Billy Bolt On system... 1 ton ends and sleeved chromoly rods...

Your not being the "Bad Guy" man....I ran the ORO for 10 months prior to the hydro assist install with no issues at all. But that said, maybe I am a lucky one!!! I was running smaller tires(36/15.50/15) previously with no issues as well but like I said maybe I was lucky but I did recieve the latest design(drag link). Is there better out there......probably...nothing sings a louder tune to betterment than a custom designed for U set up for sure, especialy done by someone that knows what they are doing like yourself Bnine.

I will be changing it out soon for a bigger unit once the new diffs go in but until then I will be runnin it(blew another pinion in the 44....it just can't take the 38's...so fix it sell them and bigger n better commin up). If Bnine will build you a cross over then I would take him up on the deal!!! I always say support home especially if he is using common parts and giving you the beef that you need and will be there for you when and if any issues pop up....!!

Jeff, I dont think you are ready to get into the $$ of a custom steering system. My only point in answering the thread was to make the point that for the time being your money would be better spent on a currie system. Its plenty stout, and more affordable until you are ready to spend the big bucks.
