Calgary Pick Your Part
« on: August 01, 2009, 10:42:05 AM »
Anyone know if there are any YJs kicking around in there lately? I'm in Medicine Hat and don't want to make the drive if there's nothing there. I tried phoning but there's only a recorded message. I'm looking for some full doors. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. Thanks.

I havent been lately but Ive only ever seen 1 Yj there. Try calling 'JeepStuff' for a quote on doors, and post a 'wanted' thread in the section here. Jeepstuff might want an arm and a leg but I guarantee they'll have the parts.

There was a YJ in there last weekend. Don't know if it is still there tho. Through the last couple years, I have seen 5 or 6 YJs and a couple CJs in there.

Manchester Auto yards had a 88 Yj sahara, I took a look at it and there is some spotty surface rust, Nothing you cant buff out. The color of the jeep is kind of like a metallica champange color, but there were no real dings that I could see. I actually found a set of yj doors at pnp two weeks ago and I think that was the only thing left there. But I was in the same boat, you will be able to find some. You could also try Quadratec..

Yeah, the autowreckers here in Medicine Hat managed to find some in BC and wanted $550 for each. I said no for obvious reasons, so the hunt continues! Thanks again for everyone's help though.

550 each?  thats funny. you should fire back at them that a fully functional YJ goes for the same price as two doors.... then offer them the rest of your YJ for 5000$

i hate wreckers sometimes for that crap

Yeah, for sure. I was just saying to the wife that for these prices from wreckers I could just buy a jeep and part it out to save money! Lethbridge autoparts wants $850 for a pair of light blue ones. Maybe it wouldn't bother me but I plan on sanding them down and repainting them anyways so it seems like a lot of cash for me to do a bunch of work. I'm sure if I'm patient enough I'll find another Jeeper with a set who understands Jeepin' and not just profit. That's why these forums are so good for us. Glad I was told about it, you guys are great!

That manchester auto yards wanted only $150 for the entire windscreen, So I would expect that the doors would be pretty cheap. You could give them a shot! Happy hunting once again!! ;)

Just letting everyone know I managed to find a pair of full doors without breaking the bank. I found them on Craigslist in Vancouver, a guy parting out a YJ. Got both doors for under $200, and had my old man pick them up because he's in Chilliwack. Thanks for everyone's vigilance and info.... now to search out more parts for my obsessive hobby  ;)  .... oh, and I'll also be asking for advice on how to paint these doors flat back in the near future... stay tuned  :P

how to paint these doors flat back in the near future...
sandblast, sanding wheel, sandpaper, whatever it takes to get down to primer or steel.  Then Tremclad! Comes in colours, gloss, semi-gloss, and flat. Gallon, quart, or rattlecan, it's all the same!
VA6CPL
Jeepless....
