Jeep wave rant
« on: December 09, 2005, 10:07:30 AM »
So i've been here for 2 months now and I've noticed something......the jeep wave doesn't exist in this city.  I came from Saint John NB and back there the only jeepers that didn't wave were soccor moms.  Now I know there are alot of jeeps here, not all off roaders, but not one has waved?  Whats up with that????  Just ranting, so I'd appreciate no flaming back towards me..thanks

call me a snob, but I wave when I see some sorta mods. Anything that differentiates the Jeep from the crowd gets a wave. (BL, MT's, winch, cb whip, etc.) Unless of course she's cute, then she'll always get a wave. Otherwise you are waving every flippin block and people look at you funny.

Its funny, when i first got my jeep, i would wave to almost everyone (looking for minor mods) and would get a wave 60% of the time, a "what the hell are you waving at"look 20% of the time, 19% of the time they didnt care whatsoever.  The remaining percentage (1%) goes to the one arse who gave me the finger when i gave him a jp wave.

I once read that the smaller Jeep was obliged to initiate the wave.  Is this true??  I typically wave if the Jeep looks like it may be offroaded or if it is modded.

I wave for modded Jeeps, stock CJs YJs because they know what its like to ride in, and deal with a somewhat tempramental Jeep.  I'll wave if someone waves at me.

BS, Not true as far as I am concerned. Sounds like someone with a massive ego started this one.

Naw, its true, the smaller or newer jeep is sposed to initiate according to the sites where they post jeep wave rules

Like TJ's are pretty much the biatches and gotta start the wave to everyone :D

They have funny little things like if you are in a really old rig, you can just raise a finger off the wheel and a slight nod of the head. But newbie jeeps gotta do the ful on wave.

Its pretty funny stuff. There's a site and write up on it somewhere.

I wave at jeeps some of the time. If they are modified I wave almost always, unless its cold out, then its a nod or something, or a slight steering wheel wave. But almost always if I see any rig heavily modified I just stare.

I saw this one truck parked on 17 Ave SW in calgary, that seemd to be jacked up several feet. It was red with these large bright lights on the rollbar. I had to stop in my lane holding up traffic to take a pic of it. I blended right in with the other taxis that do exactly the same thing, but for a fare.  That is one of my pet peeves. These taxi drivers and other morons that can't go west in the outside lane without taking up 2 lanes. In the winter-time when you cant see the line everyone takes up the 2 lanes.  I guess they can't judge how far the parking lane is and how wide a regular lane is.

I'm a going to buy an old 1954 M38A1 and you can all bow before me and I shall have the choice of raising whichever finger I like. And you shall die happy knowing that I have acknowledged your existence, for I am the king of all things Jeep and as your king, YJs and TJs and CJs alike shall fear the wrath of the M38A1. Wave not and fear the wrath of my oldness.

I guess you haven't heard the news yet. Apparently Chryler recalled all jeep waves about 15 years ago. It's old news. They found there was a weak wrist pin in the wave causing most wrists to go limp there by getting the finger in return bacause some didn't care for a weak wristed wave..

You could get tendonitis waving at all the Jeeps you see in this city! I'd prolly wave more if I had more mods on this new one... lately, it's more of just a "Look" as you are driving by than a wave. But I always return a wave if I get it :) The CJA windshield decal was a great idea, cause then, modded or not, you know that it's definately worth it to wave.
