Rocky Mountain House Jamboree - CANCELLED
« on: December 10, 2005, 04:03:31 PM »
I know people are already trying to plan their vacation time for the summer, so I thought I would like everyone know that there WON"T be a Jeep Jamboree at Rocky Mountain House this summer.  Alternatively, I have been hearing that Apex will probably be having 2 weekends with the absence of Rocky.

The ECO Club will be spending this summer looking for an alternate location and will be back in '07 bigger and better.

That almost sounds like a bad April Fools Day joke.   :(  Hopefully the next location will be better.  I really liked the RMH Jam!

Just out of curiousity, do you have an idea of the lose of coin to the community of Rocky Mountain House and surrounding area because this event has been cancelled for the year.

Oh well, I guess ensuring the money goes back into the province of B.C. should be all fine. Driving tourism dollars out of this province to another is a good goal to aim for.

I know I've got friends coming up from Colorado and Farmington this year but I might just tell them to meet me in B.C. as well.

Shame to hear it's being cancelled. I've never been to one but I do notice how many people look forward to them every year.

It is important that we let the SRD know our thoughts on the cancellation.
A letter to the minister of SRD will do. I can send anyone a sample letter to use, as well as the contact info.
You can e-mail me: [email protected]

There is no point in complaining about it if you don't take action.

I heard that SRD is just a small part of this story, Someone had said that there is more info available on the ECO site. I will post a link when I have time to take a look.
I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

This is the link

http://www.missioncontrol.ca/cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.cgi?board=Eco;action=display;num=1132893711

Or here is the coles notes version

"the controllers of the land have made it impossible for us to meet their demands as per land usage and trail maintenance, and therefore we cannot use that area for the Jeep Jamboree. We managed to meet them all as they piled them on, all the way until they decided we needed to build high grade "maintained roads". thats the poop in a nutshell,  sooooo.... Jeep Jamboree will be put on in a new area in '07.
Eco will spend summer '06 developing a new venue. " - KrZ1
