when to grease
« on: October 13, 2009, 06:16:33 PM »
Hey all,

when I changed out my canyons for the moabs, I noticed a few grease nipples that obviously need attention every now and again...the question is how often, and what kind of grease is good for canadian winters/summers?  Also, are these sealed units, or should I just pump away??  I would really hate to pop a seal if they are sealed units.

thx in advance.

If there is a grease nipple, they aren't seal units, and if they haven't been hit for a while, pump until clean grease come out. Just to make sur all the crap comes out.

I grease before and after wheeling.
If theres no wheeling just street driving, I do it every time I change the oil.

I would strongly recommend this grease, http://www.powerupmcs.com/thixogrease2info.html.  The only place that I have found that sells it is Bowness Auto and it is about $12 a tube.  I have been using this stuff for years and it works great.

grease em anytime you go through water. i grease mine every time i'm in the garage. everything with a nipple. so balljoints/ujoints/TREs shackles.
i use the canadian tire stuff cause i i got through a tube a month. (shackles hold lots of grease) although i'm sure my frame end bushings are gone.

in short. everytime you climb under there it can't hurt
