For all you 4.0 I6 engine owners out there...
« on: November 01, 2009, 06:00:26 AM »
Looks like 2010 is going to be a good year for some of us...   http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS171874+29-Oct-2009+PRN20091029

Mopar will also introduce a new 4.7-liter I-6 Stroker long block, a powerful
upgrade for the 4.0-liter I-6 made famous in Jeep vehicles built from
1991-2006. Because off-road enthusiasts appreciated the dependability and
performance of the previous 4.0-liter engine, Mopar developed a more powerful
engine that delivers an expected 265 hp and 290 lb.-ft of torque. The engine
will fit in any Jeep vehicle previously equipped with the 4.0-liter I-6
engine.

I cant wait to see what they want for $$$.  But its damn near at the top of my list for 2010 Jeep parts if they can come in under the cost of a Titan or Golen stroker.

99 XJ - 4.5" Rubicon Express Super Flex, 31" Dick Cepek Mud Country Tires, Front E-locker, Rear Detroit Locker, Rockhard 4x4 front and rear bumper with sotc, 9000lb winch, Cobra CB.

That is good news if the cost is reasonable and it comes with warranty... other than that... there is already a pile of stroker options out there.

The press release I am waiting for is... "Jeep now offering Rubicons (2 & 4 door) w/ 5.7L hemi's and locked D60 axles". Then wait 3-4 years and buy them for $0.50 on the dollar. Dare to dream  ;)

2009 Jeep XK, 5.7L, 3" lift & AEV rims
2003 Jeep TJ, 4.5L stroker, 38's, custom long arm, 609 HP diffs, atlas, coil overs, full hydro, etc.
1997 Jeep TJ, 4.0L, 35's, Clayton long arm, locked SAG30, locked SAG35, coil overs, air bumps

I get the feeling that 95% of the people who spend the money for a 5.7 and locked D60's are going to hang onto those Jeeps.

Besides, for $20,000 you can add that to a used 2007 JK. They have been out long enough that there should be plenty coming back off of 3 and 4 year leases.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

Tinkerer... I'm talkin "mass produced" from Jeep... not AEV... its not even close to being the same thing.

Wsquared... If the "factory" produced them... they wouldn't be any different than an SRT8 Cherokee... the price goes down when their "used" and people who "buy them" will "sell them"... as thats what humans do. Most vehicles retain only 55% of their MSRP after 3 years... some even less.

Sorry gents... like it or not... thems the facts  ::)

I Read the same...

Mopar part no. P5155210 will carry a list price of $4,690, and for that price, all you’re getting is an ATK remanufactured long block, which ATK sells for $2,794.

PM "The Machinist". He's right here in Calgary, he's on this site, does work for other guys in the club and gave me a price "way better" than what Mopar could ever do on a "proper" long rod stroker build.

I was going to do a stroker, with him, for my TJ... but I ran accross a deal in the US that was too good to pass up... so I have a stretched wheel base, V8, Coil overs, 1 tons, dual bead locks, 43" tire... not street legal trail rig comin. It's my early x-mas present... from me to me ???

I'll be putting one in my cherokee for my christmas present, although I'd rather be getting your christmas present.  Once I drop it in I'll start a build thread so you can see what you get for your $ put in and what you can expect from your engine.  Thanks.
I just can’t resist a good mud hole!  🤦

Careful what ya wish for... I bought it sight unseen... so it could be a POS. The guy just finished building it 2 months ago (build was documented on Pirate) so as long as it was built right (as it appears to be) should be all good. I'm gonna take it straight to "Double Up" and see what it can do  :o

Anyway... back on the "I-6 stroker" topic... look forward to your build thread on the stroker.

PS... I have the proper "3727 crank" for a stroker project... PM me if ya need one.

My USA jeep was sold the night i was ready to buy it. :(

That sucks  :(

Same thing happended to me, just this week, on a front and rear steer tube buggy out of Texas... the guy was supposed to set up a buy it now auction on Ebay after he weighed the buggy. He went ahead and listed the buggy and then took 4 days to weigh it. In the mean time... someone bought it. My fault really cause whether it was 4000 or 5000lbs... I still would have bought it.

Might have been a good thing as the "built Jeep" I ended up buying out of Colorado is better suited for this climate. The Jeep should be delivered here in the next 5-6 days... then I can give it the once over and head out to run double up with a few other guys on stretched rigs and see what it can do. I'll post a link to a few pics of the rig after I am satisfied I didn't get the shaft on the deal  ???

And now... back to stroker builds  ;)
