Russel Sports Closing
« on: December 03, 2009, 05:15:50 PM »
So I stopped in to pick up something for my dad only to find out they are closing December 28th  :'(.  I mean they have all the same stuff as Wholesale but on a smaller scale.  I've also thought the service was better there but apparently the staff and the rest of the stock is moving to wholesale (they are owned by the same group).

As luck would have it though they had a brand new Remington VS LH in 223 for half price it's the old model but for 50% I figured you can't go wrong.  I'm pretty happy with that score. Funny thing is there were only about 5 guns out of the lot on sale.

At any rate it'd be worth checking it out if you're into that sort of thing.

That's sad to hear . I like that store and will agree that the staff are more knowledgable than other sporting goods stores. Maybe it's due to Bass Pro Shops (ugly American store like Wal Mart >:( ) moving in on their territory. I hope they have some wicked "going out of business" sales. I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip!

Nope. It's because Russel sports was bought out by wholesale sports. They ran them as a "competitor" to Wholesale until the lease ran out, and now they're just shutting them down.

I suppose that's one way to deal with competition that takes care of their customers....buy 'em and close 'em.

For my money, Russel's provided service that was far better than Wholesale ever has. It's a shame that they're doing this.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

Dave, one of the guys behind the gun counter said most of the staff will be transfering to Wholesale, so I'm sure the service should also pick up over there.
