NEW TIRES!!

New Tires and 2" Lift!!!!!

I went out today and got 4 new Trxus MTs 31"x10.5", 4 rims, 2" spacers and 4 Super Lift Shocks. The tires and rims are on back order but I have the shocks and spacers. Any advise on instalation of the shocks and spacers? Anyone with a heated garage feel like offering some time and advise?

Thanks for any advise,

Blair

Installing 2" buget lift
« Reply #1 on: January 04, 2006, 07:27:10 AM »
Found a heated shop to work in on Saturday. I was told to put the new spacers in with the old stock ones. Should the old stock rubber go on top or on the botom of the new 2" spacers? Any other info I should have regarding the spacers? The instalation of the shocks looks straight forward.

Thanks,

Blair

The old "spaers" are isolaters, and they fit right in the spring perch. You'll see when you get to them, just leave where they are.

Only other advice would be to remember to disco you're sway bars when are doing the spacers. If they are still tight, you can borrow spring compressors from autovalue with ID and a small deposit, no charge when you return them.

Good luck

Thanks bnine for the hints.

My next door neighbour has offerd to put the jeep up on the hoist in his auto body shop. He said he has a spring compresor. Should make the job go quickly.

Luxton "mind if I ask where you got your tires/rims and what ya paid for em?"

National 4WD / PM info to you.

For anyone else looking to move up from just stock to a small lift and MTs the full package was just over $1,400. Now I can save and get a  winch in the early spring.

Thanks Dom

Sounds good. I may try to make the club run on the 21st if the trail is not to difficult. Do you think you will have your jeep finished by the 21st for a run? If not, your welcome to ride my pasenger seat and give pointers if I go out. Have you heard of any sugestions yet on the trail for the 21st? I guess it will depend on the weather for the next few weeks.

Lift Update

The 2" lift and shocks are installed. It was realy easy in my friends shop with the use of a floor lift and air tools. I needed a spring compresor to get the front springs back in. I have only been out for a short drive so far but the ride feels beter than with the stock 4 year old shocks. It is a firmer ride but not harsh. I will have to see with the 31' tires. The new tires should be mounted and balanced by Monday for me to pick up.
