What tires for a stock Jeep?
« on: January 12, 2010, 08:44:12 PM »
Hi there I am new to the whole Jeep world. I just bought a 1997 TJ. I plan on replacing the stock tires but this is my daily driver. I want to put on 31's and am looking at the BFG Mud Terrains KM/2. any other suggestions? what works well here in Alberta?

Dura Tracs. All the stuff I have heard is that they are great on dry pavement, snow and ice.

If you plan on doing a lot of driving on snowy and icy road, don't get a mud tire.

Those look good. I am looking for an aggressive tire looking but not looking to get something loud or something that will be done in 20,000km's either. Thanks for the reply

I use 31" BFG AT's on my 97 tj. not to loud in the summer, even with the top and doors off. great in the winter. havent had an issue yet.

BUT, if you have the money, a Toyo opencountry MT in 31x10.50 would be da bomb

if you are on a budget, the wrangler territory from canadian tire is a good deal, wait untill they are on sale, every few weeks they go on sale
I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

A little late to the game with this but hey...............I run the Duratrac's and can say that so far they are one of the best "all around" tires I've had. Great traction and not much louder than the stock SRA's that came on the jeep. :)

what u smokin johnny boggers suck...  ;D

why you runnin em then ;)

the benefits of boggers are unparalleled by any 'street' tire.  Boggers, while loud to the driver, are also loud to other drivers;  they will hear you coming; people will not Jwalk in front of you, for they will hear the hum of said tires miles away, and feel the rumble of each meaty lug smacking the pavement when you get near.

the bogger, with its unique design, is one of the meanest looking tires on the market.  no more sitting at 4 way stops wondering 'who goes next?'  YOU go next;  those tires command respect.  people will look in awe at the aggresive look your jeep has, and wish they could command such attention.

but what about performance you ask?  well let me tell you,  the bogger is an ideal tire for Calgary roads.  why just this morning, i was wishing my daily driver had a more aggressive tire on it to plow through the foot of slushy snow this warm weather has given us.  the soft compound of the bogger would chew through that slush with no problem.  and i admit, they might be a little worriesome on ice, but what tire isn't?  simply pulling that 4wd lever alleviates any problems of traction!

and lets not forget the added benefit of offroad traction!  you will be the marvel of the trails with the capabilities these tires give a rig. you'll be flinging mud, snow, boulders and little furry animals with no effort!

oh yes, the Bogger is a great choice for your jeep.  who wants a similar tire that comes stock on a minivan?  wow i'd be embarassed to don the same shoes as a minivan!!!! oh wow.

in short my friends, yes, the bogger is a great choice.....................
