I'm in the process of replacing my rear axles and am going to throw on the disk set-up that came with the D44 instead of using my old drums evfeon though they are new. The drums work ok, set-up takes a bit of time to get them just right, but disks would be less of a pain, and they're disks.
1. D44 rotors have maybe 30,000km on them. They are pretty rusty but don't look worn. There are no lips from the pads wearing into them. I was thinking of buffing them up and reusing them. They are Bosch if that makes any difference. Would this be a problem or do I need machined rotors?
2. I'm going to go through napa for the parts because it's close. My choices for pads are AE Ceramic, Adaptive ADO, and AE Metallic. Which ones would be better for improved stopping power? I'm thinking the metallics.
3. I took a quick look at the front and although the rotors are good, I might have gotten a little carried away with greasing the upper ball joints as there is grease on the outer edges of the rotors. The front still stops ok, but I'm thinking of putting on metallic pads in hope of better stopping and to match the rear.
4. If the rotors are good and smooth, is there any problem using new pads and slightly used rotors?
