snapped bolt/screw removal

If anyone has a drill bit that brings out snapped off screws and bolts, can I swing by and use it.
I have my rear lights both sides and front signal that snapped off.

they are 3$ at canadian tire.

you will most likely break them anyways.

princess auto sells bits to do this they actualy drill backwards so eventualy they will untread the remains of the screw.

I bought a set at Princess when I couldn't get my torx trackbar bolt out after stripping it.  After lots of penetrating oil, heat, and jacking up each side numerous times, I got it out along with the help of the extractor.

Most of the kits that you can buy are really only good for small screws that have damaged heads.  Even if the kit says it will take out damaged bolts usually they break off and then your screwed.  The thing I found that worked the best for bolts is to drill it out to the biggest it can go befor you damage the threads and then run a tap thru it very carefully.  For the little screws the extractor sets work great, and after getting the damaged screw out make sure that you run a tap thru it to clean out the rust.  and use some anti seize for next time it works good.  Plus try and replace the slightly damaged ones when you get them out.

There are a lot of different styles shapes sizes and qualities of screw extractors. I am pretty unimpressed with the extractors at PA. My current fave is a US made set by Irwin which has a very different shape and profile than most others and has worked really well for me. I bought it when my motor dropped due to broken off bolts in the XJ. After worrying about how hard it would be to remove the broken bits for a few days it was actually super easy...if you have a right angle drill...It helps that the set has like 40 sizes!

I thought they were way more expensive, if they are that cheap I will just buy them.
I snapped off the bolt heads for rear lights, it is now flush. I have one bolt on each side holding the light on.
Front marker light screws, the head of screw is shaved so the star bit dont work. I am not worried about this one. Just worried about the rear lights.
Will buy the reverse out bit, if that doesnt work will drill out then tap.

Reverse drill bits are the only way to go.

Greggs would be a better source for them. PA's quality on bits is less then favorable.

X2, get the gooder reverse drill bits and a drill that can spin both ways. i have a couple different extracter sets from snap-on and mac. they have saved my a$$ many times. paid for themselvs years ago. a nice one i came across is a reverse drill set designed for removing broken bolts at the bottom of a shaft. like breaking a crank damper bolt in the crank. not a good time at all.
my best advice from years of breaking bolts is to not break it in the first place. penetrating fluid, working the bolt back and forth, and some heat go a long way.
