SELECTRAC vs. QUADRATRAC fuel consumption
« on: March 27, 2010, 08:17:13 PM »
I would love to hear some expert opinions on selectrac vs. quadratrac in mid 90s XJ and ZJs.

-fuel consumption a lot worse with quadratrac?
-lot more maintenance?

all opinions greatly appreciated. i have owned 3 jeeps, all with the inline 6, selectrac systems. considering a quadratrac system but dont know if my wallet can handle it. thanks!!

its the same.

ZJs with a 4L will burn about as much as V8 ZJ on the highway; the gasmileage differnce is negligable.  at least in my ZJ experience

except when you romp on the skinny pedal... V8 is a thirsty little bugger.
if we were smart with our money we wouldn't own Jeeps.

my old zj had full time 4wd.. 318.. and loved gas.. would go 430 kms on on a tank  (prob 80 litres).. thats mixed highway and city.. i lost 200 kms a tank when i put cherrybomb glass pack on it... but damn did it ever scream  8).. i miss that beast.

stock v8 is ok in the city if you lay off the pedal. and i mean lay off it.  it will be ok.  4l will be better in city though.   but i'd rather be able to romp on it ;)

Haha yeah.
Looking back maybe I shouldn't have put that performance carburetor on the J20.  ;)
