tool needed

OK going to be installing gears sometime this week .

does anyone have a torque wrench that messures inch/lbs with a dial on it  that i may borrow for a few evenings
so i can messure rotational force

or does anyone know how i can messure that with out this tool

I use a 1/4" click style torque wrench. Set it to the middle of the acceptable range, and very carefully turn the pinion with it. The click will be very light, but it's worked for me. Aside from needing a 1/4"-1/2" adapter....

I use a deflecting beam style one. I could not find one in Calgary so I had to buy it off e-bay.

I also coud not find a click or dial style that went down to 5inch/pnds, everything I saw started at 15....

what is spec for the pinion  that might be a good start

How cheesy is that! I just clicked that Yukon link and at the end there is a recommonded tire size limit for their gears based on diff model. Didn't have that in the instructions that came with my Yukon gears 5 years ago. I guess they must have been getting too many come backs.

I guess thats why I broke my front D44 Yukon gears shortly after swapping the diff into my ZJ from the old XJ.  I was running 36" tires and those gears were only rated for 34" tires. Didn't have anything to do with the V8 in the ZJ or my heavy foot at all!  :D
