Squeak from both rear wheels
« on: April 15, 2010, 07:50:39 PM »
Hey everyone,

I have an 07 Sahara 2dr (pretty much stock) and I'm getting an annoying squeak coming from both of the rear wheels.  If I just push up and down on the rear bumper I can make it squeak.  I got underneath it today and had a friend do this, but I can't track down exactly where the sound is coming from!  It sounds like it's coming from inside the wheel somewhere, but I can't nail down exactly where.  I plan on taking the wheels off to see what I can see, but when I have the wheel off, I won't be able to replicate the problem.

So.... Does anyone have any ideas where this horrible squeak may be coming from?!  What could I check??

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

you could check your shock and sway bar bushings... have you driven on alot of gravel lately?? small chance but maybe some rocks in there?

That's something to check, I rarely drive on gravel though.

dry rubber bushings or coil isolaters. try using a water hose on everything under the jeep at the back. see if it goes away.

So I found my squeak, but I'm not sure what I can do, need some ideas.

The squeak is coming from the shield that sits behind the rotors to protect them from getting hit by rocks/debris.  If I move it back and forth I can replicate the sound.  Any ideas what I can do to stop the squeaking?  I've already sprayed it down with grease, but that didn't seem to help and it doesn't seem to be loose...

Im sry to be a jerk, but i have to say if the sound only produce annoying, get used to it.
I have a 08 jk,and i got clunky steer, squeak from clutch, loose door latch, click sound from front dash, squeak from driver side door......and right now has a little rough idle issue, maybe too much mud?And im tired to track down where those sound from.
I had a couple TSB done in the dealer, and the guy working there said:It is a jeep thing.

Yea, I'm definitely not going to lose any sleep over it, but if I might be able to make it stop, I'm going to give it my best try!
