Ford Diffs in YJ

Time for upgrading the axles. Ive got an 88 yj with a amc 360 installed and purring just right,Eldelbrock performer, carb and shorty headers, with two 2 1/4 pipes running into a flowmaster and one 2 1/2 pipe out the back.Transmission is a999 auto and 231transfer case.ITS ALSO got a wangler extreme flexlite electric fan.MY problem is clerance on the front drive shaft only about 2inchs from drivers side exhaut. Im running 2.5inch procomp springs and would like to keep them and go spring over.All my research points toward 78-79 f150 fs diffs would be ford 9inch in the back and dana44 high pinnion in the front with the diff on drivers side. Has anyone one have input on this or done it and is the rear diff center or offset my t-case yoke is now centered between frame rails.

Rear 9's are centered, its the 8.8's that are offset.

The front 44's are setup for radius arms and coils. The only guy I know with that setup used bronco diffs, and swapped the radius arms into his yj. Im sure you can weld pads on, just be a little extra grinding when removing the old arm mounts.

F150 will be slightly wider then a bronco set. Bolt spacing is 5x5.5, same as CJ's.

They are a nice combo under a jeep, good luck.

btw, Brink on here had a f150 hp 44 housing for sale, not sure if he still does. Worth looking into though.

hey scored a good deal on diffs today, 1977 f150 9inch rear and 44 high pinion front, looks like alot less grinding than a bronco I looked at, but still quite abit. Got the whole truck for 600.00 and not a part taken off ,even glass is good.HAS A posi but cant tell ratio yet.
