dana 44 wheel bearings
« on: May 20, 2010, 06:25:35 AM »
so i am regearing my axels, and i figured i would replace the wheel bearings in the rear while i am in there. so i went to napa last night to pick them up and they wanted $210 for the bearings and seals.  :o $65 per bearing and $40 per seal. i also tried partsource but all they listed was "inner" wheel bearings and was not sure if these were the same and the guy behind the counter had no idea what a dana 44 was.

is this typicaly the price? where does everyone get theirs? can anyone get me these cheaper?

i am not too sure on the year of my 44 or what it came out of so i have been using a 89 mj as there are no tags on the diff.

any help would be greatly appriciated.

I think I paid just a tad less for my bearings and seals on my Dana-44.  $65 sounds about right

If you lucky there may be numbers on the old ones. Good for cross-referencing the replacements. They all want too much for the parts these days. If you can't find part numbers, have the dimensions writen down to check and make sure they will fit before you drive all the way home. Hint: buy some cheap digital calipers for fast, easy measurements. The mystery diff story, anyone have a diff   Bible or web site cause even the tags seem useless...
