Yj ignition issues??
« on: May 26, 2010, 08:17:03 PM »
So we took out my buddies 1991 Jeep YJ 4cylinder and where driving basically down a gravel road not rough at all and the Jeep just dies.

We check it out and have narrowed it down to no spark. next we checked for power at the ignition coil and there was nothing coming out or going in (checked the harness with a test light). Very lost and not alot of knowledge on this setup. Fuse is good and shows power there but nothing in the harness.

I have read online that it could be a faulty Iginition module? or switch? or both?

Any help would be appreciated as we are trying to get it out for next weekend.

FYI:
91 Jeep YJ
4 banger
Fuel injected

any other info needed let me know

I do not have a lot of experience on pre 1993 jeeps but if it were a later model I would check the crank position sensor... I'm not even sure if that 1991  rig has one, but I know on my later jeeps if that sensor is gone it will crank fine but make no sparks. good luck!
