squealing clutch??
« on: May 28, 2010, 12:31:54 AM »
So after a few puddles and hill climbs on Tuesday, my Jeep started to make a loud squealing sound while driving on the trails.  It sounded just like a drive belt, but it wasn't.  Instead, the noise instantly stopped as soon as I started to push my clutch pedal in.  Then I would let the pedal out and the squealing would start again?  I believe I have a noisy throw-out bearing at the best of times, but I want to know what this sound is and what I should do?  The squealing only happened twice while we were out on Tuesday and lasted for abot 5 minutes each time.

Did you remove the drive belt and test for noise..... I had a bit of oil on mine, and it would only squeal when wet, but would stop at low RPM and when I was shifting gears. before you get into more costly repairs, take 2mins pull of the belt and see if you can get the same squeal.

Hmmm, Wet and squealing.....
