2006 Chev 2500HD 3" lift?
« on: May 29, 2010, 10:54:35 AM »
Anyone heard of a 3" lift for a 2006 Silverado 2500HD (diesel). Girlfriends dad had a 2" budget boost lift installed and it tanked his front end. basically he had to replace it all. I was talking to him and he was saying there is only 2,4,5,6 " of lift. I promptly laughed and said i'm sure there is a 3" somewhere....I have not found one.
I was also suprised to here that the lift cost 2400 bones......for blocks in the back and turning the keys up in the front with new shocks...The lift online costs about $300. I dont know diesels but i'm thinking he got hosed?

Anyways if anyone knows of a 3" lift or a better way to get 2" please let me know. he dosnt want a huge lift but more then stock so he can fit his current tires (33's). It look great with a 2" but...not if his front keeps failing.

Ideas!

pretty sure for 3" you just do tortion bar keys, ive done a few sets at work gives you the lift but maintains a decent ride

There is no 3" lift. for HD chevs. There is for the 1/2 tons. And all the IFS 2" lifts are crap. They just index your torsion bars and run your CVs at bad angles. With a juiced up truck you can actually hit the droop stops just by hitting the throttle. Either get an agressive set of tires and leave it at that or pony up and get a real lift kit that has brackets and replacement spindles and real parts not just a set of torsion keys. I sold lift kits and truck toys and wouldn' sell the IFS leveling kits because they just wreck stuff.

Seems strange not to make a nice 3" lift...but thanks for the info I will pass it on. Any thoughts on the $2400 to install it? Seems insanely high to me but...i know little of diesels

$2400 to installl the kit is retarded. A good quality kit (Fabtech,or RCD) should take 8-12 hours to install, alot quicker on brand new off the lot trucks. If you have any other questions let me know.

no kidding :P I will try to convince him to buy a jeep and make it a brute. more truck then a GM :)

I figure 2400 would be 500/hr for an expensive kit...unlike my jeep lift when it was frrreeeeeeeee. well free from money. not frustration.

Thanks for all the info
