Hi Guys,

I just needed a Torx 30 and 40 to remove the Hard Top and get the Soft Top installed ...
Anyway, I walked into 'Canadian Tire' and they had the most amazing promotion

A 162 piece Mastercraft Socket set for only 50 $ ... and this kit is coming down from 190$ 

I wasn't (and still am) not to sure about the quality, but having a wrenching kit for this money to take on the trail is not something I could pass by ...
according to the guy working there it is decent quality (might just be sales talk) but he did say that the kits are flying out like crazy, and they have limited stock so get there while it lasts ...

Mastercraft socket set are good quality, and if they do break take it right back in for a warrantied lifetime exchange. If I didnt already have the 205pc I'd prob go grab this!

If you dont carry a good set of tools on the trail, and have a third of a brain of what they should be able to do, you shouldnt be wheeling...ask Noel if he will weld your junk using you battery...lol

Actually it was 3 car batteries  hooked up is series. It would be better to use Mr.Jeep5's underhood welder instead. You don't HAVE to know how to fix everthing that can go wrong with your  vehicle Aaron.  I've broken  plenty of parts on 5 different offroad vehicles over the years. It helps to carry the basics and know how to fix common things that break /fail on the trail. It happens. People need to know the basics or know the weaknesses of their Heep before venturing out in the backcountry. It's always a good idea to travel in groups and have someone who knows basic mechanics, first aid, etc.

It's important to be gracious and thankful to all those that can assist you with your breakage. Pay them for their spare parts,gas, assistance to a main road. A handshake is all that I really need.

My local CanTire was sold out, but the Stanley 211-piece set for $100 (down from $300) looks to be a decent deal as well.

well I gotta say: I love the 'Canadian Tire' store ...went back there for some wrenches ... cannot believe how cheap this Mastercraft stuff is here ...
Got some other things on sale:
- 14 piece wrench kit Metric for 25$
- 14 piece wrench kit SAE for 25 $
- 65 piece screwdriver set for 20 $
- 6 piece plier set for 30 $

hihihihi, I am pretty much all set now when it comes down to tools ... for about 150 $ !!!!!

Sounds like you got a good start but you are not set for tools on a jeep til you have

36mm socket   (axle nut)
13 mm 12 point socket (unit bearing bolts)

Alot of the master craft sets will have the 13 mm 12 point ... but the 36mm is usually something you have to buy separately.

indeed .. did some work on the Jeep today ... found that I missing some essentials ... a torx 55 ... a bal joint remover (or what the heck it is called) ... some various other stuff (like a REALLY BIG HAMMER)...

Will get my hands dirty again next week Sunday as I need to replace a pinion seal in the rear and the left axle seal (might do a whole front axle review/overhaul) ... going to the US for the week, so i should be able to get some cheap replacements parts while I'm over there ...

Anyway, still for the money I spend, I can get a lot done already :-)
