axle seals
« on: July 30, 2010, 10:55:32 AM »
any one have some advice on how to change over a CAD D30 seal without destroying it?  i'm to lazy to pull the locker and install the one piece axle shafts, but if its gonna be a complete B@#$% to seat that CAD seal i'll just pull the locker and do the one piece conversion. (yes, i have the parts, thanks noel ;)

Like I said last night, even if you went with a one piece axle shaft you still have to do that seal. Unless you put it on the inside of the pumpkin like the driver’s side. But even then you will have the same problem with setting the seal right. It’s tricky. (plus you have to remove the carrier)

Use the tool I made or buy one

This is where I got the idea from, for using the all thread and a axe head as a slide hammer.

just need to find a socket that will fit your seal. That’s where we went wrong last night.

found the solution at NAPA;  i gots myself a 2$ frost plug; same size as the seal.  just need to drill a hole in it to accept the rod.   hehehehe

time to slide on in.  see if i can skip out early
