Toughest Trail at McLean or Waiprous

I am wondering what the toughest trails are at either OHV area. I know that Fisher East has a reputation for being super Nasty but i have never been down it. Is it just bad for the deep mud that you have no choice to go through?

Do either locations offer decent rock climbs other than what is found on the Top of the World trail?

I know that there are obstacles to be found on nearly any trail you run, but I am wanting to see a trail that only the best jeeps have a chance in making. In my opinion mud doesn't count in this poll because any truck with big mud tires and high Hp engines will usually do well in the mud. I am wondering what trails are tough and require an experienced driver, a very capable suspension, good low air pressure tires and super low gearing.

I am attempting to create a map that will identify some of the obstacles at McLean right now and grade the difficulty of each obstacle. One day it would be cool to have these maps produced so that people are able to run a trail safely knowing what lies ahead.

Back in the day "killer Cutline" was pretty nasty...and lost knife wasnt fun in the winter either...but probably not even worth looking into nowadays...sigh.

Waiporous is mostly closed in the summer.. there's nothing tough there.


Fisher East is EASY... it's just Muddy.. any retard can go through a mud hole. There nothing hard about that...

I think that Double up would be the toughest one I know there (or widowmaker...I will not try that one after Gary fliped his Yota there). You have to be VERY Careful or you could flip your lid and end up destroying your rig and may be hurt yoursef real bad... so don't do this with your kids in the back or with inexperienced drivers.

Widow maker is one tough hill for sure, but still isn't what I would consider a trail. There are deffinately consequenses for poor driving on that hill and I guess it could be considered an accomplishment if you make it to the top.

I am in search of tough trails that can be ran with a reasonable chance of success but could easily turn into trouble if the driver makes a mistake. A few weeks ago a couple guys came up the back side of Pridis East on dirt bikes and warned that the trail was a nighmare full of boulders and steep rock climbs. It sounds interesting enough to go explore, but my hang up with trying it is it looks like I would have to return out Fisher East and I am not a huge fan of mud.

There is also a hill after turning north off of Fisher East and heading towards Top of the World that is on the west side of the trail. It is a long steep cutline that looks semi-do-able with lots of rock and shelves. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried it?

a few of us has done it a few times... it's tough for short wheel base Jeeps... It was SpecialK first run with the club and he put his jeep on his side... asked him... he still had a great time.

It's not for beginners.. that's for sure.

I think it's the best trails at Mclean! I love it!...

run it in 2wd with just a rear locker as your traction options.

that'll make a lot of stuff harder.................

or don't use your lockers and run open.......

Pretty much what Bacon-boy said.  There's a lot of hidden treasures at Mclean.  What makes this area unique is most trails are not very long, so you can go and run a bunch of trails all in a day.  Each trail may have a challenging section, but it's all about choosing your line, you can take the most popular line, or you can make it interesting and challenge your self/jeep.

Hey guys thanks for the input. Like I mentioned in my first post, this isn't so much a request for the toughest trail at our OHV areas because I am bored but rather an inquiry to some of the difficult trails that exist so that I can decide if it is worth producing a map that highlighted trails and their difficulty rating.

I drove a trail on Sunday that was wide enough for two jeeps and on one side of the trail it was flat and on the other side it was washed out. If you asked a member of our group if the trail was difficult they would likely say no not at all, but I took a very difficult line through the washout and nearly ended up on my roof. Trails like this exist throughout McLean but I have never seen a map that identified any obstacles.

What I am hoping to do is create a map that would identify obstacles like this for both those who want a challenge and those who want to avoid them. Of course I would like to identify bypass routes as well. If this project turns out like I hope, then it would be great to get some info such as common names that people have for obstacles such as "Double-up."

the problem with maps is they get into the wrong hands.  why let 10,000 retards in lifted F350 type trucks know where our favorite spots are?  or worse, all the high school kids who wanna break mom's new toyota.  have fun but keep your maps to yourself and close friends.  in the least, don't post them here please.
