Does your vehicle have to be licensed and insured if you are trailering it out to Waiparous or McLean Creek and then off-loading it out there for offroad use only.
My father-in-law, from BC, has an Iltis that he wants to trailer out here to do some offroading with it, with me and my new Rubicon. Currently though, its not licensed or insured... he only licences and insures it for the summer... and presently his licence and insurance has just expired
I don't think he wants to licence and insure it since he will only be using it for the one weekend in September and he won't use it on a regular basis, again, until next summer.

register it as an offhighway vehicle only.  you can insure it like that too. dirt cheap.

But like any quads, you can't drive it on the road. right?

However, these rules apply to Albertans.
See this link to get proper info for Albertans and from jurisdictions outside Alberta.
Its in the black highlight section...Know the Rules.

Thanks.. thats very helpful. I believe that currently in BC a lot of OHV's don't have to be registered if you are not driving them on the highway. Now normally during the summer he does drive it on the hwy (thus he registers and insures it) but I will get him to check what the rules would be in that province if he only drove it offroad. It does however look like he has to insure it, no matter what the case, if he is to drive it off road here in Alberta.
