First modifcations to Dirk's Jeep TJ 04 Rubicon
« on: September 12, 2010, 05:21:27 PM »
Hi Guys,

Thought I would share the work I have been doing on my 2004 Jeep TJ Rubicon.

A BIG thanks to Serge (aka Frenchy) for the hard work ... not only as a safety inspector

Hope you like it as much as I do !!!

Anyway, pictures say more than words, so here goes:

Some pictures of the installation of the Genright Aluminum Corner guards

Preparing the front end for the tube fenders

Rear and Front tube fenders powder coated and installed, still with 30" tires

Installed the Rocker guards and got the Rubi on 33” Toyo’s --> as it stands right now  ;D

Thanks for the positive reactions  ;D

@Knox: nope, the fenders, corner guards and rocker guards are from Genright (bought through NorthRidge4x4) ... you can make them yourself offcourse, but the prices are very sharp, and I don't have the tools and time to make these myself ... and to be honest, not sure if I could make them to the same level of quality ...

Wow, that looks great Dirk!

Way more extensive than my initial mods to my jeep :P

Where did you get the fenders from, or were they fabricated locally?

In my garage.
I brought everything to Rite-Way powdercoating, they did a very good job and at a decent price too!

And yes, functional air vents also make the install much easier. I'm jealous cause mine don't look that good  ;D

Better go get that thing dirty and scratched 8)

Fail, I read the "Some pictures of the installation of the Genright Aluminum Corner guards", and the "Rear and Front tube fenders powder coated and installed, still with 30" tire", but missed the post where Knox asked :-[

yep ... everything done at Frenchy's :-) ... so all kudo's to him ...

The powder coating was done at Rite Way (http://www.ritewaypowdercoating.com/) not because they were the cheapest, but because they had a "sparkly silver" color that very closely matched my Jeep's silver .. that way I could save on a paint job ... I must say: those guys at Rite Way did an amazing job ... zinc baselayer on the metal parts, and the finish is phenomenal ... and it matches the color of Jeep close enough, so no extra paint job as I hoped ...
In short: the guys at Rite Way are definitely worth considering if you need some powder coating done ...

The air vents are indeed functional, but mostly they are BAD arse :-)

@Frenchy: looks like this weekend I am going wheeling, just make sure to come along and I will let you personally scratch the fenders (somewhere out of sight offcourse and very minimal scratching eh ... :-))
