ZJ 95 Limited - No Front DS - Bad?

Well my front Drive Shaft on my 1995 Grand Cherokee Limited v6  broke off and I am in process of trying to find a new one (I was thinking PicknPull) .

By reading around the forums, the Quadra 4wheel drive is very sensetive, and shouldnt run without a DS. 
Should I not be running my Jeep without the DS (I only use my jeep to drive to and from work, very little use)

Also, I need to buy a new Front DS, any ideas where locally I can find some?

Im a jeep newb , so this is my beginning to rebuild and have fun with my jeep with Calgary Jeeps.

V6? thats pretty rare if you mean inline 6 I have a front ds for you pm me.

if its the 249 (AWD) than no. if its the 242 (called selectrack) then you can drive without it.

so if you have quadra drive (249) then no.

if its a 6 you should have the 242.

If your TC shift positions are 4FullTime - N - 4LO (NP249), driving without a front drive shaft will cook the viscous coupling unit in the TC.

If your TC has a 2WD option (NP242, NP231), then you can put it in 4PT to lock the center diff and give 100% power to the rear and drive without hurting it. Just be sure to put it back to 2WD (or 4FT if you have it) after reinstalling the front shaft with those transfer cases.
