gonna try some of that 'goop' tonight. see if it takes the clear coat off, then spray bomb the wheels :)

how did it go, and how expensive is the goop?

the goop was 9 bux.  but it didnt' do anything. note, there was no paint to strip; just the clear coat.....  i ended up sanding.  in short, they look ok.  the spare looks like crap, but meh, what can you do?  pics will come eventually ;)

I have used the aircraft paint stripper stuff in the past and it worked great on the clear coat too, took a few tries as it would make the clear really gummy and some patches did not want to come off, but it worked nicely, that and trying to sand blast them will leave them very pitted and take forever to get looking good, there are likely other forms of blasting that work well, but sand does not work well on aluminum from experience.

97 Red XJ, 4.5", 31" mud's, ARB front, 9500lb winch, bushwhacker's, warn sliders, HnT SYE and CV drive shaft - written off and sold for parts :(
